Genre Research Blog
Another Genre I am researching is Mystery. A mystery film is a genre of film revolving around a problem or a crime. Mystery can also be referred to as detective fiction. The genre Mystery can include high angles with tilted cameras, different light exposures, or just any creative lighting during the film. I feel like mystery is such an entertaining genre, especially how I could give the audience room for creative thoughts. Since the lack of knowledge creates suspense. The only thoughts that have me worried about this genre are how would i like to make my film different, and original and not make the genre look too similar to horror. common sounds used in the genre mystery are creepy music, slow music, and small background noises that can be interpreted as creepy. Two mystery opening sequence examples that I liked were, 'Dark City' (1998) and 'Knives Out'. Both of these opening sequences are nicely done and inspiring for my ideas for my film.
