The genre of crime fiction can have a variety of different film-making ideas. This is one of the elements that interested me about this genre, as someone can incorporate mystery or murder mystery. This genre deals with crime, criminals, police work, and detection. Many things can go into this genre which is what I look forward to as well. Crime involves action, so this genre may take place outside and at night. As crime is also considered an action movie the film, some camera movements and angles would include, tracking, long shots, close-up shots, and eye-level shots to create suspense. Fast and slow past editing, to create suspense, dissolve transitions. One example is the movie 'Drive' (2011) opening sequence scene. Its unexpected ending gives the audience room to be curious to make it suspenseful, they used cut editing to cut from film to film and various light exposures. quick/sharp edits, as this is related to action. Another film example would be 'Baby Driver' (...
I have chosen the genre, horror, as horror can be creepy and give a little mystery. Horror reflects social worries and the fears people have. Horror explores the nature of evil and the minds of the people with a life of crime. The genre Horror could be a comedy, romantic, violent, or depressing. As I have all these options for my movie. Horror movies can be as creative as the writer wishes, as anything can be added to horror. With horror, I can end my opening sequence keeping the audience with a mystery or giving them a little imagination. Horror is my favorite type of genre of movie to watch, to create this with creativity can become very fun.
Another Genre I am researching is Mystery. A mystery film is a genre of film revolving around a problem or a crime. Mystery can also be referred to as detective fiction. The genre Mystery can include high angles with tilted cameras, different light exposures, or just any creative lighting during the film. I feel like mystery is such an entertaining genre, especially how I could give the audience room for creative thoughts. Since the lack of knowledge creates suspense. The only thoughts that have me worried about this genre are how would i like to make my film different, and original and not make the genre look too similar to horror. common sounds used in the genre mystery are creepy music, slow music, and small background noises that can be interpreted as creepy. Two mystery opening sequence examples that I liked were, 'Dark City' (1998) and 'Knives Out'. Both of these opening sequences are nicely done and inspiring for my ideas for my film.
