Production Blog- Filming

As my friends and I plan to meet before dawn to be able to set up for the film and review how we would want the film to look. As I want my horror film opening sequence to be planned to have the audience adrenaline-filled, with a sense of anticipation in the air. As the person filming needs to make sure everyone that needs to be seen in the film is in the right positioning, as well as the camera staying up right correctly or being tilt when needed in the correct orderly way. Parts of the opening sequence there are hidden features in the background or corners, as the director needs to ensure that the individuals are positioned in the best way to not be directly visible to the audience but still visible if looked closely. As these details are to ensure the vision for the films spine-chilling introduction. As the director was needed to capture certain shadows in certain parts of scenes to get the audiences attention to be focused on other, to give a suspense feeling. My friend and I had a

As I had some help from my friend who is very good when it comes to electronics, he had helped me get the transitions I wanted for my opening horror sequence. Crafting my own horror opening sequence involves attention to detail, and a key understanding of a storytelling. One part of the film is when the motorcycle rumbles to come to life, and the light turned on the entire screen will then turn white from the motorcycles light, this will lead to a flashback. As this is to also show an idea of the story that the opening sequence is trying to portray, as well as keeping the viewers on the edge. I loved to experiment with sound design, as I slowed the tempo of the musics, or elevated the clicks of the heels from the female walking down the street. The unsettling sound effects to immerse the audience with the film of suspense.

The opening sequence will not have music playing to embrace the ambient sounds of the environment. With the clack of the females heels against the rocky trail, the rumble as the motorcycle raves to life following by the beaming light of the motorcycle facing the female walking down. Music enters with a flashback  The first song selected is the song "Insane in the Brain" by Cypress Hill, the initial 20 seconds of the song would be utilized as it synchronizes with the flashback, the tempo will be edited to be slowed down to harmonize the scenes environment. As the next song that will be channeled into this opening sequence is the song, " The End" by JPOLND. as this song is very slow, soft as it gradually beats up. This song is beautiful and I love the voice of the female which will be heard in the film to emphasize the specific moments of the opening sequence.

Production- Start of Filming

As it was difficult to find the correct setting to correspond to the scenes, however at the end we successfully found areas where the lighting and background gave a sense of suspense or danger. As I do want the opening sequence of my horror film to give a darker aesthetic. As we chose one of the scenes being on the road, while the next scene is an outside behind a church, as well as a scene in front of an old  house. As these scenes rely on the motherhood of the environment, and the darkness of the night. I feel this gives it a more natural filming setting. We filmed the beginning scenes of the film, being the chase of the female in the red dress and black heels, being chased by an individual on the red motorcycle with a red helmet down the street towards an abandoned church building.

Costumes! As I feel the outfits of characters can show the interpreted next scene. So I had made sure the outfits were how the story was going to end. We had to find thin heels and a red dress to show up in the dark scenery. The outfit of the man needed to be thick black clothing with black shades to give off the suspicious look. As my two friends and I made sure to get what we needed. As well as props, props being a motorcycle for the chase, a motorcycle helmet. As the helmet covers the face of the individual riding the bike, the helmet stays on even without the motorcycle scenes so the face is unseen throughout the opening sequence. The setting of the film in the beginning scene is outside during night hours walking down a street. As the street leads to an old church.

Title Research: Killer Klowns from Outer Space

Image
This opening sequence is the "Killer Klowmn from Outer Space" from the website, "ArtofTitle". The opening sequence starts off with creepy music as well as laughing. Starting off with the presentations, the writers, and the starring people. With the background dark and the letters glowing blue switching to dropping red. This gave me a feeling of the creeps. The music then switches to an upbeat that gives a sense of warming and a 2000 party song. As they show a few funny clips. They opening sequence gives a little of an introduction to the starring characters, showing the rudeness of the cops, and the tension between cops and civilians.

Title Research: Bones

The opening Title Sequence to the movie Bones. The letters are creepy and the opening sequence starts off with two men with coats and sunglasses. As this was an idea I had wanted to add to my opening sequence I love how this opening sequence interpreted it. The letters were shown and were creepy, the men were giving people money, but they gave a creepy and suspicious aspect. With also editing tools, the screen glitches up giving off a scary sense to the audience. I loved how this opening sequence went about, as this was not a classic horror opening title sequence.
